Playing on PS5 Brook Wingman P5
Use your ZhongTaiko drum on a PlayStation 5 with the Brook Wingman P5 adapter. Your E-Box runs in NS (Switch) mode, and the Wingman P5 translates it into a signal the PS5 accepts.
1. What You Need
- Your ZhongTaiko drum + E-Box (any E-Box that supports NS mode)
- A Brook Wingman P5 adapter (sold separately)
- A PlayStation 5 console
- USB cables
Why an adapter? The PS5 only accepts licensed controllers. The Brook Wingman P5 makes your drum — running in Switch mode — appear as an authorized PS5 controller.
2. Setup Steps
- Turn on wired (USB) communication on your PS5. Go to Settings (gear icon, top-right) → Accessories → Controllers (General) → Communication Method, and change it from Use Bluetooth to Use USB Cable.
- Switch your E-Box to NS (Nintendo Switch) mode. The Wingman P5 reads your drum as a Switch controller, so NS mode must be selected first.
- Connect the E-Box to the Brook Wingman P5, then plug the Wingman P5 into a USB port on the PS5.
- Done! Your drum is now recognized on the PS5 — launch your game and start playing.
⚠ Order matters: set the E-Box to NS mode before connecting through the Wingman P5. If the drum isn't detected, unplug everything and repeat the steps in order.
About the USB cable: Once set to USB, the device sends all input through the cable — unplugging it disconnects until you re-plug or switch back to Bluetooth. Use a data-capable Type-C cable; a charge-only cable will not transmit signals. Wired also avoids wireless interference, giving a more stable connection and lower input lag.
Tip: Keep your Brook Wingman P5 firmware up to date using Brook's official updater on a PC — it improves compatibility with the latest PS5 system software.
3. Troubleshooting
Drum not detected on PS5
- Confirm wired communication is ON in your PS5 settings.
- Confirm the E-Box is in NS mode, not PC mode.
- Update the Brook Wingman P5 firmware via Brook's official tool on a PC.
- Use a data-capable USB cable and a USB port directly on the PS5; then unplug and re-plug.
