New to taiko or on a tight budget: HORI Tatacon (Switch / PS5) or IINE Gen 2. Inexpensive enough to start with; expect to mod the rubber pads.

Pro feel without a full cabinet: Rythmagica TDC10 or IINE Gen 3. Compact desktop drums that players can graduate on.

1:1 arcade feel at the best value: ZhongTaiko Standard (from $409.99). Full 43cm rebound, tuned out of the box.

Closest to a real cabinet: ZhongTaiko Pro (from $559.99). The arcade iron plate gives the rebound of a real cabinet. Standard and Pro offer the same platform versions (PC NS, PC NS PS4-5, iTAIKO); only the iron plate differs. Closest rivals: Taiko Force LV6 or Rythmagica TDC17.
